Customer Operations Manager
Overseeing the customer experience for a logistics provider which runs head first into providing solutions to shippers’ most critical shipments speaks volumes for Nikki. Her ability to coach a team of enterprise account managers through navigating the day-to-day curve balls, developing long term lane commitments, and building trusted relationships based on communication and dependability is respected by the Founder. Starting in a customer service assistant position 5 years ago, Nikki learned how to manage all of the little details that go into a successful shipment. From there, she quickly began managing and growing her own accounts. As a repeat Employee of the Year (2019, 2020), she shines in her ability to continually keep a global food brand’s production line humming; available as 24/7 support for every customer in need. Nikki loves a challenge, especially when it’s crunch time! Her infectious laugh keeps everyone around her in good spirits and she’s excited to start planning her wedding next year!

Al
Healthcare Logistics Manager
The unique needs of shippers in the healthcare industry require relentless attention to detail and premium care. Al is available on demand, 24/7 for his growing, dedicated accounts’ customers and plays a key role in our fleet division, eliminating the potential for degradation of information. Having started his career at K & L in 2005, he has over 17 years of experience in dispatch, warehousing, driver management and planning, DOT compliance, is a TSA coordinator, and has been inducted into the Haul of Fame. Al has played a key role in training drivers and operational staff, and ensuring K & L’s founding premium standards of service have never wavered. While preserving the integrity of pharmaceuticals and life science’s clinical trials, he is genuinely motivated by the opportunity to make a huge impact on lives daily by doing what he does best; maximizing our specialty equipment and drivers’ availability to deliver time-critical, vital medical transportation solutions. Al’s a loving, new father of an energetic two year old son and has even bowled a 300 game!

Shemeka
Enterprise Account Manager
Shemeka has high standards for servicing her dedicated accounts, continues to grow strong relationships, and provides a top notch, customized service experience for their unique needs and preferences. Having been in the logistics industry for nearly a decade, she’s a great example of how a strong work ethic and great energy can propel your career. Starting in night operations, Shemeka learned firsthand what goes into our critical after-hours standards, and has applied that operational expertise towards solving her customers’ most difficult situations, aiming to always be their first call. Aside from her genuine care and contagious smile, Shemeka earned the 2021 Employee of the Year award. She’s a family oriented, mother of two teenagers who loves to laugh!

Hiram
Director of Information Technology
By structuring a data warehouse, Hiram has created a “single source of truth” for daily analysis within dashboards and reports. He is establishing predictive analytic modeling incorporating internal and external business intelligence, pricing and market trends. With his extensive senior leadership experience, spanning 30 years in manufacturing, distribution and supply chain, Hiram initiated, and serves, as a council member in the Project Management Office. Focused on guiding enterprise-wide initiatives and process automation, his creativity and multifaceted experience has transformed K&L. With the spirit of an entrepreneur and experience within both a start-up environment and driving major change within a large corporation, he brings a strong analytical, results-oriented, data-driven approach to compliment the leadership team. Hiram earned an executive lifecycle management certification from University of North Carolina, a Masters of Information Systems from Keller University, and a B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois. His abilities are empowering K & L to make sound decisions and increase competitiveness in the market. Outside of work, he enjoys DJ’ing and following the latest technology trends!

Jorge
Director of Operations
Spearheading the launch of the Guadalajara, Mexico office, Jorge has built and trained a team of carrier development and operations associates focused on intra U.S. and cross border logistics. His fast-tracked growth during his 5 year career in the logistics industry can be attributed to his focused, process-oriented, continuous improvement approach to maximizing results of efforts; preaches work smarter, not harder. The work ethic of him and his team has significantly increased the available capacity of quality carriers in the network, servicing K & L’s rapidly growing customer demand. Having the ability to be a positive influence for his team, coaching and developing their skillsets is what drives him each day. Jorge loves photography, capturing architecture and landscapes from his travels. His passion is music and playing the drums.

Nick
Director of Finance
Extremely strong at supporting sound business decisions, Nick creates profitability forecasts across brokerage and trucking entities and sends real-time data to the technology team for visualization. Holding a CPA license and utilizing 26 years of accounting experience, he continuously brings lane and customer profitability reporting to the CFO. His years of serving customers of a financial consultancy firm enhanced his ability to do discovery and create processes that yield impressive change. Nick is a counsel member of the Project Management Office, providing him challenging opportunities to tackle. He loves driving business to new levels, coaching his peers through data analysis and opportunity cost exercises, and being understanding of people; not everything is dollars and cents, as he says. Nick is a proud, single parent to his teenage daughter and can most often be found at her softball practice and games!
